Tales from the Marica
Every day is unique and brings totally new experiences. In any season and at any time of the day. Let us tell you about our experiences, which will make your stay in the 4-star Hotel Marica also unique.
Each season has its charm, but spring in our country is really something special! While you can explore the last snowfields with skis, it’s already possible to do hiking, mountain biking and road cycling through the valleys.
Manfred and Gabriel are taking our Ex-Aussie to their favorite powder spots with amazing views. A tour on a beautiful sunny day is the best preparation for our upcoming ski tour weeks!
The dance of the witches!
What a night: we celebrated Carnival with an awesome costume-party! Playing funny games and dancing to the rhythms of DJ Bernd till late. This was definitely the highlight of our Carnival-week!
Our backpacker is back
After one year of traveling between Australia, New Zealand and South-east Asia our daughter Eleonore is finally back. Her conclusion: the world is awesome but nothing beats the wild beauty of the Dolomites! .
Obereggen Night Show
Every Monday evening we will bring you directly from the Marica to the spectacular night show. The Obereggen Ski – and Snowoardschool puts on a spectacular demonstration show including tricks, fireworks, dancing pist-groomers and an open-air disco.
On snow shoes to the Stradivaris
The thick, soft blanket of snow swallows all sounds and worries. Wrapped up well, we plod our way through the fresh snow, sinking in a little, with just the sound of our breath. We are surrounded by a thick forest of centuries-old trees with a special history: the famous Stradivari violins were in fact made with the spruce wood from Val d’Ega. As still as snowflakes we listen to their sweet melody.
King Laurin and his rose garden
The sun shines brightly above Carezza. We take the cable car up to the snow-covered slopes below the legendary Catinaccio, “Rosengarten” in German. They say the castle of the dwarf king Laurin is the highest peak of all, and in the cool air between Catinaccio, Croda di Re Laurino and the Latemar, he created a splendid rose garden for his beloved Simhilde. In the snow, we still see the silver threads he once spun over the rose bushes.
Searching for clues
Autumn is the time for hunting for tracks. The air is clear, it becomes silent on the mountain tops and the lifts stand still. We make our way cautiously to the peaks of the Dolomites, and suddenly there they are – the chamois! They jump nimbly over the craggy abysses, showing us the way towards unique places. In the summer we take our guests there, because we like to share the most beautiful places of our homeland with you!
Gathering food for winter
When we taste the delicious sun-ripened plums and apples that adorn our trees around Hotel Marica, we also think of our guests. Like squirrels we gather the fruits that our chef uses to conjure up all sorts of tasty treats: marinated plums, fine jams made with apples and plums, sweet apple purée and delicious apple chutney. Homemade souvenirs of summer – all available for you to taste at breakfast.
