Why visit the Marica in summer?

Did you know that the human body is truly invigorated in the mountain air and that the feeling of relaxation lasts for longer? And if you add sport and exercise into the mix, then it provides the perfect counterbalance to the stresses of everyday life! This on its own would be reason enough to visit our youthful little **** Hotel Marica, but there's more:

Location: Our hotel is situated on a peaceful and sunny slope in the small mountain hamlet of Eggen at the foot of the Latemar and only 20 minutes from Bolzano at an altitude of 1100 metres above sea level in the World Natural Heritage site of the Dolomites. This is a huge advantage for us, as the climate is ideal - not too hot and not too cold - and depending on the weather conditions, our trips head either down into the valley or up into the mountains!

Furnishings: We built our hotel in 2004 to resemble a villa for friends. The rooms are light and generously proportioned, with high quality materials, fine fabrics and original works of art. Our intention is that everything that our guests "feel" should be of the highest quality and above all, there should be plenty of free space. Probably for this reason we only have nice guests!

Sports: Our main sports are hiking, mountain climbing and mountain biking - we are qualified guides in all three activities - and we love to take trips into our wonderful mountains with our guests. Cyclists and motor bike riders are crazy about our area and all the challenges posed by the Dolomite passes.

We offer a programme with several hikes and mountain bike rides every week, and are pleased to fall in with the wishes of our guests. In addition, there are two golf courses, tennis courts, riding stables and much more within easy reach of the hotel. Hansjörg, our mountain guide, offers climbing trips and for a "dry run" there's always the high ropes course in Obereggen.

Culture and Shopping: Danger! Bolzano and Merano are chic and exclusive shopping destinations, and the Mediterranean atmosphere can be enjoyed on their streets and in their squares. A rich range of cultural activities, and perhaps a visit to one of the nearby wine cellars round off a visit to the city.

Relaxing: Far away from the hurly burly and noise, we live in another world here - the peace is really only interrupted by the church bells, as Eggen has no through traffic. Our large terrace is the centrepiece for our guests - a meeting place for enjoying a hearty afternoon snack, chatting and making plans for the next day. The terrace is also a good place to meet after a swim in the pool or trip to the saunas, unless you prefer to sun yourself on the lawn. Our massage programme is tailored to active sportsmen and women and we use local herbs and plants.

Enjoyment: The sumptuous breakfast buffet, hearty afternoon snack and the sophisticated evening menus are attuned to the wishes of our active guests by Florian, our head chef from Eggen. In summer we also make use of all that our garden and the great outdoors have to offer in order to add extra taste and finesse to our dishes.
We are wine connoisseurs and guarantee that our wine cellar will also provide select quality from our blessed region.
