Rock climbing in the so-called pale mountains is now somewhat of a cult
With their bizarre crests, pointed summits and white, calcareous stone, this group of mountains grew up out of the coral reefs of the primordial ocean, millions of years ago. The first rock climbers ventured up the pale mountains 200 years ago. Since then, rock climbing in the Dolomites has lost none of its appeal to those who wish to test their own limits and conquer seemingly unreachable summits. A feeling of irrepressible freedom. The Vajolet Towers, for instance, the most famous rocky needles in the Catinaccio, are a sort of Eldorado for ambitious rock climbers.
Around the Latemar and Catinaccio, there are many other via ferratas and climbing routes, with and without ropes, for different levels of difficulty. They are ideal for both novice climbers with a guide and experienced rock climbers with a passion for vertical climbing. As a starting point, the 4-star Hotel Marica is simply the best!
